(Tune: Oh Boy!)

I’m Jewish, and when I was a teen-ager, my grandmother made me promise her that if I ever got married, it would be to a nice Jewish girl. Unfortunately, she never lived long enough to see that dream come true, (I DID marry a wonderful woman who happened to be Jewish) but I can only imagine what she would say if I hadn’t, bless her soul. Interfaith marriages are much more common nowadays, and fortunately most people are more accepting of this, but for the older generation, it’s still a tough pill to swallow.

I grew up as the 6th child in a family of 11, so I remember listening to my older sisters and brothers playing and dancing to Buddy Holly records. This song is as much a tribute to that music innovator as it is to Jewish mother’s everywhere.
